Gibson ES-125 Mahogany Top 1948 - Sunburst

For sale today is quite a rare model, a mahogany top Gibson ES-125 from 1946. This guitar looks great for its age and has some aging and wear to show it was well loved.

The odd parts include the vintage Supro tuners at the headstock, the wear mark on the top right below the neck that a pickup was mounted, a replaced bridge, replaced tailpiece, pickguard, and the original pickup was replaced with a Lollar p-90 pickup. There was a patch applied to the output jack position to strengthen and repair that area. There is also a 4" +\- crack near the output jack, on the side that does appear to be stable and is not moving. Looking inside the guitar with a mirror I cannot read the pot date codes, but there does appear to be a newer orange drop capacitor attached to the tone pot so there's a possibility that both pots have been changed.

The guitar has been well loved, and plays like butter with a nice straight neck. It is currently strung with flat wounds and shines when plugged into the right amp. The thicker body on these has a fantastic resonance to it that translates electronically in a beautiful way. The mods that have been made to this guitar honestly just give it a more road worth presence. The frets are in pretty good shape. There's some small divots under the G & B strings, especially in the "cowboy chord" area, but it isn't enough to cause any buzzing or fret-out. It weighs 4 lbs. 5 oz.
