Gibson ES-125 1948 - Sunburst

For sale today is a beautiful 1948 Gibson ES-125. This guitar features a mahogany body, maple top, mahogany neck with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. From top to bottom; It's got original tuners, original nut, what looks like original frets, original frets, original pickguard, original pickup, and an original bridge. It has a replaced (60's Gibson Chrome) tailpiece, a replaced pickguard bracket, and one non original speed knob.

The guitar looks phenomenal with a great patina to the finish and tons of beautiful checking. The guitar resonates like a bell and is currently set up with 10 gauge strings. This guitar does not have any large structural issues or repairs and is overall in great structural shape. The first 6 frets have some deep divots but it still plays. The finish looks pretty great for its age but does have its share of play wear and weather checking. The majority of this is to be found on the lower (leg rest) side of the guitar, and the back of the guitar. The binding is also slightly loose in that area. It does have a small area of buckle worming also, but it is not heavy (see photos). This would do well to have a partial re-fret at some point soon. That being said, the action and playability is awesome and inspiring. The original p-90 pickup has tons of growl and depth with a very touch sensitive response. The circuitry looks to be unaltered with original pots, caps and wires. The weight is 5 lbs. 3 oz. The nut width is 1.67" and the neck width at the 12th fret is 2.06". Don't miss out on a piece of Gibson history for a great deal. It will ship in a non original hardcase.
