Fender Telecaster Custom with Maple Fretboard 1974 - Sunburst
For sale today is a truly epic Telecaster. This is a 1973 Fender Telecaster Custom in excellent shape. This guitar features a maple neck and fretboard, an ash body, a nicely preserved sunburst finish, and all original electronics, hardware, and case. If you're looking for one of the good ones from the 70's, look no further than this well constructed Telecaster weighing in at 9 lbs. 2 oz.
This guitar has seen some years being played and does have some signs of use. There are finish blemishes primarily around the edges of the guitar body, and some light weather checking also. One thing you don't see on this guitar are signs of abuse, it was very well taken care of. There are no dings up the back of the neck, just one small impression in the skunk stripe behind the 5th fret (smaller than a grain of rice) that does not break through the clear coat. The headstock is in nice shape too with no big dings or dents on the top, just some extremely minor scuffs. The frets are slightly worn but still have plenty of life to them, and are not causing any playing issues.
All of the pots date to 1974, though one has a nylon shaft. We assume that was something that Fender was doing at the time since the values of the pots are different (1-meg). I have included photos of all internal components and body cavities so you can see that they are correct. I cannot say enough about how great this guitar sounds, how balanced it is tonally, and how usable these sounds still are in a modern capacity. This dream telecaster excels whether you are playing rock, country, blues, jazz, or any other style you throw at it. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions on this fantastic guitar and we will do our best to help. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
