For sale today is a beautiful '62 Reissue Fender Japan Stratocaster in sunburst finish from 1996. That means this one got the 50th anniversary logo on the back of the headstock. This guitar features a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard, alder body, vintage style tuners, 3-ply mint pickguard, original electronics and hardware, and it all really has a great vintage feel to it. Fender Japan has been known to rival the USA factory in terms of fit, finish, and feel and this guitar is a great example as to why.
The neck has a rounded feel to it that fits the hand nicely with no hard corners. The vintage size frets allow you to feel a little bit of fretboard in your bends which is a big part of the vintage sound and feel. The staggered pole pickups are well balanced and also vintage inspired. The bridge pickup is not ice-picky and is actually usable! The 2 & 4 positions throw you right into Stevie/John Mayer land. The neck pickup is creamy and full.
There is hardly any wear or signs of use on this guitar. Especially seeing as it was built almost 30 years ago the great condition is awesome to see. The front of the guitar has 1 ding right by the arm rest which is about the size of a grain of rice and finish is still intact. The back of the guitar has only the faintest bit of buckle rub on the backplate and very little on the finish. It's very obvious that this guitar was well taken care of and never abused.
