Epiphone Olympic with Maestro 1966 - Sunburst
Up for sale today is a beautifully preserved 1966 Epiphone Olympic. This guitar is museum quality shape with all original parts and finish in amazing condition. This has less wear than most 5 year old guitars and this is almost 60 years old at this point.
It features a solid mahogany neck with Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, a mahogany body, maestro tremolo, one single-coil pickup, tone and volume controls, and a beautiful sunburst finish. The pot date codes tell us that it is from 1966. The plastics are holding up extremely well and do not have any cracking, with just the most minimal shrinkage. The chrome is also still vibrant and shiny with only the slightest bit of pitting. The electronics are working perfectly and sound fantastic. It plays great with a straight neck that frets true all the way up. No dead notes here. The original frets are barely worn at all.

While the finish is one of the cleanest we have seen of this era, it does still have some minor flaws. The headstock has some scuffs on it, mainly on the very tip which I did my best to photograph. It is marked as a factory 2nd but I am unsure as to why. There are 5 small dings on the front of the guitar, the largest of which are the size of a pen rollerball. There is one ding, and some white scuffing on the side of the guitar by the arm rest. The back is pretty clean with just some horizontal clear coat scratches, they do not break through the finish. The back of the neck is clean as can be with just some minor scuffing where it rests on the inside of the original case. And that's it! This guitar is shockingly clean with no headstock or heel repairs.
