Taylor 615 1983 Lemon Grove - Natural
For sale today is a beautiful Taylor 615 from 1983. This jumbo body guitar features quilted maple on the back and sides with a spruce top and is double bound, a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard that is also bound, and a rosewood bridge. It has LR Baggs lyric electronics so whether you're plugged in, or going acoustic you've got a great tone. The guitar has aged well since 1983 and has warmed up to a beautiful, dynamic sound that literally booms out of this jumbo body. It sounds great whether it's strummed or fingerpicked. This was built in the famed Lemon Grove shop.
This guitar is a true player and has been played in the many years since it was made. It's got some minor finish imperfections that should be addressed. The finish on the top has weather checking that to me looks fantastic and is perfectly normal. There are some dings here and there on the top, the largest of which is near the arm-rest area and is about the size of a skittle. There are almost no dings on the back/sides of the guitar. The back has some weather checking in the clear coat, but other than that just shows micro scratches. The neck has some light scratches but they are so light they can hardly be felt and no dings. The headstock has a couple of little dings on the top which I did my best to picture.
There is a slight gap between the fingerboard extension and the top. These have a bolt on neck with a glued down fingerboard. The first 7 frets have some divots in them but are not causing any fretting/dead note issues. The saddle is a little bit low but the action is good, and it resonates well. It currently reads 4/32" at the 12th fret across all the strings. It will come shipped in its original hardshell case. The weight is 4 lbs. 14 oz. They don't make them like they used to, so here's your chance to get one done the old way. If you have any questions on this great guitar please don't hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to help. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
