Kalamazoo KGN-12 Oriole 1941 - Natural
For sale today is a beautiful Kalamazoo KGN-12 Oriole in natural finish. The guitar features a mahogany neck, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, laminated maple back, solid maple sides, a spruce top, ladder bracing, original Kluson (Chicago) tuners, and the guitar has been restored to great playing condition. These were built by Gibson and are of equal quality to their similarly built guitars of the day.
The guitar came to us with a cracked bridge. We replaced the old one with a handmade ebony bridge with a bone saddle. We use fish (protien) glue for things like this. The tuner buttons were deteriorating so we replaced them with a very stylish tortoise-esque button. There were a couple of loose braces as well and we glued those down tight. There was no need for a neck re-set as there is plenty of saddle room with low action. The guitar sounds fantastic whether you are playing fingerstyle or strumming. Looking at the top, you'll notice a light etching of a star in the upper bout, bass side. It is hardly noticeable. There are some cracks on the solid sides of the guitar but the cracks were previously repaired and are not moving (see final photos). The guitar is a featherweight at 3 lbs. 9 oz. and it will ship with a non-original hardshell case and will be packed with utmost care. If you have any questions on this fantastic guitar please don't hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to help. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
