Kalamazoo KG-31 1935 - Sunburst

For sale today is a very nice Kalamazoo KG-31 Archtop guitar from 1936. This guitar features a mahogany body with an X-braced spruce top. The neck is mahogany with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. It features a deep "V" neck which is surprisingly very comfortable to play. The action is just right and allows the guitar to resonate freely without sympathetic buzzing from anywhere. The tailpiece and bridge are original. The guitar has so much life left to live and has not seen nearly as many repairs as some other instruments of the same age. I was able to date this guitar by its factory order number, #714B.

From what I can tell, there are no crack repairs and no finish touch-ups anywhere on the guitar which is very nice to see. There are some light dents/dings/scratches across the top but are no more than superficial marks. The back, sides, and neck also feature some age spots and finish wear, but also they are purely cosmetic. Like was said before, it's in much better shape than many instruments of the same age. The guitar is a very lightweight example at 3 lbs. 14 oz. so you know it's resonant and full sounding. The nut width is 1.75". The action at the 12th fret bass side is 4/32" and on the treble side is 3/32". It's got nice low action, it resonates well and is just plain fun to play. The tuners have been swapped for modern Kluson Deluxe as the old tuners were stuck and corroded. If you have any questions on this fantastic archtop please do not hesitate to reach out. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
