Epiphone Cortez FT45 1962 - Sunburst
For sale today is a lovely Epiphone Cortez FT45 acoustic guitar from 1962. This features a mahogany body with a spruce top, a mahogany neck with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, rosewood bridge and saddle, and it's mostly original. It is x-braced so this would be equivalent to an LG-2. This guitar has a beautiful sound and is in pretty exceptional shape for being over 60 years old.
It has had some work performed to get it into order, most of which was not completed in our shop. It has had 2 back-crack repairs. Those are both sealed and no longer moving. It has had a partial re-fret (first five) at some point so it is playing well up the neck with just a smidge of sizzle from the G string. The tuners are original, but the buttons were replaced with new plastic. They do a good job keeping stable and are not hard to tune with. The finish has beautiful lacquer checking and is well preserved. The back braces were re-glued by us and now the guitar has a beautifully solid tone with tons of nuance. The neck is SKINNY. The nut width is 1.66" and the width is 2.07" at the 12th fret. The thickness is .82" at the 1st fret, and .85" at the 9th fret. It's extremely easy to play with low action. The weight of this beauty is 3 lbs. 14 oz. Ships in an era appropriate chipboard case.
