Dobro D-12E "The Columbia Electric" 1966 - Curly Maple
For sale is a Dobro D-12E The Columbia Electric resonator guitar from 1965. This guitar has incredible play action for being a 12 string of its age. It truly is a breeze to play as the neck is skinny enough to easily fret up to the 12th fret. The body and neck are made of curly maple and the figuring is gorgeous. It's got some play wear on it, more on the sides and back than anything, but it is nothing structural. Near the lower strap button there's a good amount of little chips out of the clear coat. That also appears near the neck pocket, and there's some lacquer chipping off the back of the neck near the headstock also, all of which are visible in photos.
The pickup and electronics work as they should and sound epic when plugged through the right amp. There's no structural issues or cracks to speak of. We built a premium bone nut for it. It does have some good fret wear under the "G" and "B" strings, but nothing that frets out. Actually, it intonates well and plays up to the 15th fret clearly on every string. The resonator has a fantastic snarl to it. It will come shipped in its original case. Please let us know if you have any questions on this great guitar and we will do our best to help. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
